Default Cheap and close alternative to black dye?

I was messing around with colours for my various tattoos when I came across this, on the top row, Kurzick armor, it is arguably even better than black dye because it keeps more detail, however on Necrotic 15k it doesn't work so well. With mixes like this that cost about 200g, is it worth splashing out on black dye?

yellow+blue also gets you a nice black-like color, only necro armor i think though. colors mix differently depending on profession and armor so it's best to try as many color combos you can think of before, nice tip though for those who didn't know this ^^

I was actually about to change my kurzick 15k to full black, I just saved myself a lot of cash.

Try a black+grey mix. Looks better than that flat black you get now. (Which looks hideous.)

The only problem with the new black in my opinion is that on fellblades it looks like nothing but black, same with gloom sheilds. It loses alot of detail. But i like the black dye on armors.(i just wish we could change our festival hats to whatever color we want).

The new black dye looks terrible on things such as ranger 15k druid's (total loss of detail and such).

It would be great if someone could find an alternative for all types of armor, or a universal alternative, since some people are middle class (considering all the 55 monking, perhaps I'm considered lower middle class at an average of 60k at one time?), and cannot afford to go out using black dye like crazy.

Conservation of mass would be good enough for me....I hate that mixing dye1 with dye 2 gives you 1 bottle of dye 3....where the hell did the other bottle go? If we could mix the way you can mix in real life, we should be able to start with 2 dyes and end up with 2 bottles of mixed dye, not 1...while the new dye window allows mixing without bottle-on-bottle, then putting say, orange followed by purple should result in a different effect than purple then orange. That whole thing bugs me....I'm an art teacher and I know damned good and well what colors should result from mixing and that 1 bottle of blue + 1 bottle of yellow = 2 bottles of green!!!! grrrrrr....*end rant*

This mix is one of my favorites from before and after the dye update, purp + green looks great on most warrior armors as well, although it is not black.

I have been using Purple + Green for years now. The effects it has on armor varies so much, but I love that. On my necro's 15k Sunspear it looks black, while on his Shing Jea armor it looks blood red. On my sin's armor it looks dark blue, while on my mesmer's it's a nice jade green. I love the combination I actually pointed this out a while ago on here, but I guess the post has been lost since then :P

Problem is that dye combo's look different on different armor.

For my Necro's (forgot the type) Armor set I was able to use Purple+Brown to make a very convincing Black color.

I get a wierd combo sometimes.
Silver+Orange= Bright Naruto anime orange on sins.
Heres a mod for most ppl.
Silver+Grey= Gun metal grey for certain things.

I suggest getting a gun metal combo for a warrior. I dont know how to make black. They keep changing it
